LISTENING

I heard your hush
in the branches.
Not a whisper—
but a pause
before the leaf lets go.

You didn’t need
to answer.

I stayed,
listening
for breath
between
your stillness
and mine.

FORGIVE

I never whispered
to leaves—
only paused,
barefoot in their hush,

letting silence
turn to breath,
to wind
through waiting branches.

I hoped the earth
might forgive
how human
it is
not to know.
